The Return of ‘Tini Drinks: Exploring the resurgence of martini-style cocktails with gin

If you’re like us, you’ve probably noticed a trend returning to the spotlight: martini-style cocktails featuring none other than our beloved gin. Here at Patient Wolf, our gins add a modern twist to this age-old favourite.

Gin’s Timeless Charm in Cocktails

There’s something undeniably sophisticated about a well-made gin cocktail. From the crisp juniper notes to the botanical complexities, gin has long been a staple in mixology, elevating everything from the iconic G&T to the more intricate concoctions found in speakeasies and craft cocktail bars. In today’s fast-paced world, there’s a growing desire to reconnect with the past and rediscover the simple pleasures of yesteryear.

Martini-style cocktails evoke a sense of nostalgia for a bygone era of glamour and sophistication, making them a popular choice for those seeking a taste of vintage charm. And when it comes to martini-style drinks, we all know that gin reigns supreme, offering a perfect balance of flavour and versatility. Vodka is too neutral for us ????

The Resurgence of ‘Tini Drinks

In recent years, we’ve noticed more interest in classic cocktails, with bartenders rediscovering the charm of ‘tini drinks. From the classic martini to innovative variations like the Espresso Martini and the French martini, these cocktails have once again found their place on menus and home bars worldwide.

One of the enduring appeals of gin is its versatility in cocktails. Whether it’s the classic gin martini, a refreshing gin and tonic, or a creative twist on a traditional recipe, gin lends itself well to a wide range of flavour profiles and mixological experiments. This adaptability makes gin an exciting canvas for bartenders to showcase their expertise.

Elevating the Experience with Patient Wolf Gins

At Patient Wolf, we’re passionate about crafting exceptional gins that elevate every drinking experience – quality over quantity!. Our Melbourne Dry Gin, with its bold juniper backbone and citrusy finish, serves as the perfect base for classic martini cocktails. For those looking to add a herbaceous twist to their ‘tini drinks, our Summer Thyme Gin, infused with botanicals like thyme and lemon myrtle, offers a refreshing take.

Crafting the Perfect Martini

Now that we’ve covered the essentials, let’s talk about how to craft the perfect martini using Patient Wolf Gin.

Ingredients:

  • Patient Wolf Gin of your choice – we recommend our Melbourne Dry Gin for a classic martini or our Summer Thyme Gin for a herbaceous twist perfect for warmer weather. Pink Lake Gin is a great option for a more dry, savoury Martini.
  • A vermouth of your choice – could be a Dry or Sweet vermouth (10ml). We love Australian brand Maidenii.

Method:

  1. Start by chilling your glassware; whether you prefer a classic coupe or a sleek martini glass, a chilled vessel is key to keeping your cocktail crisp and refreshing. Don’t miss this step!
  2. Fill a mixing glass with ice and add two parts of your chosen Patient Wolf Gin and 10ml of vermouth. Stir gently until well chilled, then strain into your chilled glass.
  3. Finally, add your garnish and voila! You’ve got yourself a perfectly balanced martini that’s sure to impress. Melbourne Dry garnish could be an olive or grapefruit twist, a Summer Thyme Martini garnish could be a lemon twist of sprig of Thyme.
