At Patient Wolf, we’re always looking for ways to push the boundaries and create something truly unique. Blanco Wolf—our first foray into the world of agave, but with a twist that stays true to our roots. This isn’t just any agave spirit; it’s an Agave Gin Spirit, an Aussie first.
The Journey of Blanco Wolf
We began this journey with 100% organic Agave Nectar from the Blue Weber Agave plant, sourced from Jalisco, Mexico. We fermented the nectar in-house, preparing it for a meticulous double distillation process. The first distillation yielded a clean, pure agave base spirit. For the second distillation, we added classic gin botanicals—Juniper, Coriander seed, and Angelica root—infusing the agave spirit with that distinctive ‘gin-ness’ we all love.
Why Agave Gin?
Why Agave Gin, you ask? Well, why not? As our co-founder and distiller Dave Irwin says, “I’ve had an eye on agave because of the growing of it up in Queensland. I thought that’s a cool, interesting thing that’s happening.” We saw an opportunity to shake things up, and we ran with it. The result is our most progressive release to date—and we won’t lie, it was bloody hard to make. That’s why there are only limited bottles available.
Drinks Like a Tequila, Howls Like a Gin
Blanco Wolf is a unique expression that doesn’t fit neatly into any traditional category. It drinks like a Tequila, but howls like a Gin. It’s perfect for upgrading your margaritas and other agave-inspired cocktails. Think Margaritas, Palomas, or even a riff on the classic Agave and Gin cocktail—the Tommy’s Southside. And yes, you can even enjoy it in a G&T, but we recommend treating it more like an agave spirit or using it in citrus-based gin drinks like a Gin, lime, and soda.
The Experiment That Started It All
Our experiment started with mixing a Tequila and our gin. The result? A delightful balance of juniper and citrus that just made sense. Blanco Wolf shines in cocktails like the Rosita, a twist on the classic Negroni where Tequila usually takes the lead. With Blanco Wolf, you get to experience the best of both worlds in every sip.
